Some notes on @thesundaylight, a sort of… artificial skylight?

It feels good to spend the day in daylight. But that doesn't happen when I'm working inside. Especially in the winter. So, for years, I've used super-bright LEDs while I work. They quite noticeably improve my energy…

status update: the Sunday Light is indeed the closest thing to sunlight you can buy.

The Sunday Light's large reflective panel scatters light the same way that the atmosphere does. When the light is on, the light source mimics the sun, reflected as a bright white spot, and the surface of the panel glows with a luminous, sky blue light.

At the heart of the luminaire is an LED that produces over 34,000 lumens, cooled by water flowing throughout the structure.

At its brightest the Sunday Light creates the effect of standing under a clear blue sky on a sunny day. However deep dimming means that Sunday isn't just a sunlight machine - it can be as soft and soothing in the evening as it is powerful in the daytime, featuring a color changing light output, from bright daylight (6000 K, CRI 97+) to a warm evening light (2650 K), enabling perfect synchronicity with the sun.

Will this work in my space?

Sunday works in most residential and commercial spaces with ceiling heights over 240cm. It goes above the places you spend your day: kitchen islands, dining tables, home offices, and living areas.

How easy is it to install?

Installing Sunday is like installing a chandelier. It is simple to install and typically takes 1-2 hours. It mounts to the ceiling and connects to a standard electrical supply, running on 110-250V (50-60Hz) so it works with US, UK and European electrics.

How bright is Sunday Light?

As bright as daylight, and just as comfortable. At full output Sunday reaches 34,500 lumens. It never feels harsh because the light is scattered across the whole room rather than fired from one point, so it looks and feels like sunlight.

Brightness and colour are fully adjustable, with deep dimming for the evening. Set up automated schedules via the Sunday Light App.
